Gilberto Montibeller is an expert in decision analysis and behavioral decision making. He is a Professor of Management Science and the Director of Executive Education at Loughborough University (UK), a Research Affiliate at the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics (USA), and a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Threats and Emergencies, University of Southern California (USA). He joined Loughborough University in 2015 from the Management Science Group at the London School of Economics, to lead Loughborough’s Management Science and Operations Group.

He has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering (UFSC), an M.Sc. in Engineering Economic Analysis (UFSC) and a D.Sc. in Engineering Economic Analysis (UFSC in cooperation with the Univ. of Strathclyde). He completed his studies as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Management Science at the University of Strathclyde (UK).

His main research interests are behavioral decision analysis, health operations, and health decision analysis. He is an Associated Editor of the INFORMS Decision Analysis journal and has served for a decade as Area Editor of the Journal of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis. He has published widely in decision science journals. The quality of his research has been recognized with the best publication awards granted by the Society of Risk Analysis, INFORMS Decision Analysis Society, and the International Society on Multi-Criteria Decision Making.

At CTL he collaborates with Drs. Goentzel, Janjevic, and Winkenbach in research projects exploring the use of facilitated decision modelling and multi-criteria decision analysis to support the design of high-value supply chains.

He has held Visiting Scholar positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA), the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Austria), CNRS Lamsade (Paris Dauphine University, France), the London School of Economics (UK), and IE Business School (Spain). He is a Visiting Professor at the Hertie School (Germany), IST University of Lisbon (Portugal) and the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil).

Professor Montibeller has more than twenty years of experience in leading decision analysis applied research projects with national and international organizations. Partner organizations include the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), USAID/Malaria Consortium, the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), the UK Department of Agriculture (DEFRA), the UK Department of Health, Roche, and Novartis.

The scientific quality and impact of his applied research projects have been recognized by the INFORMS Decision Analysis Society Practice and the EURO Excellence in Practice Awards. His expert opinion on managing health threats has been sought by influential media outlets, such as the Financial Times, The Telegraph, and the New Statesman.
